In this panel, writer/director Shonali Bose, actress Kalki Koechlin and civil rights activist Malini Chib will discuss the story and history of the film Margarita with a Straw which brought them all together.

Kalki is an actor and writer living in Mumbai. She has been part of successful Bollywood films  like ‘Yeh Jawaani hai Dewaani’ and ‘Gully Boy’ as well asade a name for herself in critically acclaimed films such as ‘Margarita with a Straw’ , ‘Dev.D’ and ‘Ribbon’.
Her work in popular web series such as Amazon’s  ‘Made in Heaven’ and the Netflix  show ‘Sacred Games’ has also received accolades.
She is actively involved in women’s rights through her spoken word performances, namely ‘The truth about womanhood’ and ‘The Printing Machine’ and is working with The Hands of Hope Foundation and others in the battle against Child Sexual Abuse in India.
She can also be seen on stage regularly, and has her own theatre company ‘Little Productions’ which began with the inception of her own play ‘The Living Room’ and continues to produce work every year.
Some of her notable roles in theatre have been Ophelia in ‘Hamlet: the clown prince’, Morse in ‘One flea Spare’ and multiple roles in an all women version of Uncle Vanya called ‘Sounding Vanya’

She presents a podcast together with the BBC called ‘My Indian Life’ where she interviews young Indians from all over the country with raw and inspiring stories on a broad range of topics, sexuality, caste discrimination, women in sports and science to name but a few.
